iPhone 11 Pro: I am not Upgrading

Apple, the leader in mobile have just released a new line up of iPhones last September 10, 2019. I have watched the keynote from start to finish, it did not elicit any excitement. I have been using different iPhones from the past starting with iPhone 5 and I fell in love with it. I loved how the premium device to hold and how seamless the app and OS integration with the hardware. I continued to be an avid fanatic of iPhone until today, but I guess it will not be for long.

Buying my iPhone X in 2018 was in the fine line between loving or hating. I loved the fact that I was able to get a new designed phone, but hated it for the reason that I should have waited for iPhone XS. I gambled buying the 256 gigabyte variant. I’m a power user that at the time of writing this article I already have used half of my iPhone’s storage.

I told myself that the spec upgrade of XS to that of the X is not that big of a deal. They look identical with a couple of hairline of differences here and there. XS performs faster well that is a fact, but I realized I am fine with my iPhone X. Now that Apple has just released the iPhone 11 Pro, I think I will still hold on my X further more.

Three reasons not to upgrade

Camera

The camera system of the new iPhone 11 Pro has a new upgrade. It now got a third camera, the ultra wide camera that has a 120 degree field of view. My iPhone X lacks this, but I am still not buying it. I will settle with my Canon EOS M50 and buy a wide-angle prime lens if I will take wide scenic shots in the future. And did you notice that the triple camera system looks like a hidden Mickey?

notch

That huge notch on the top of the phone is still ridiculous. It has been three years old now and they never innovated it unlike other phone manufacturers in the market. They could have kept it to a minimum and for me a small thick bezel on top of the phone is still better that that notch.

no 5g

Most of the leading brands of smartphones today include 5G network support on their new devices. The iPhone 11 Pro does not have it which is a bummer. It only makes it not future proof as we all know that 5G is rolling out around the globe.
